New loans granted by financial institutions to families to purchase homes rose 18.9% in December. The volume reached 6.716 million euros, while total outstanding stood at 648.754 million, 0.14% less than at the end of 2008, as confirmed by the Bank of Spain.
The entities have opened the spigot of funding in recent months. If in January the upward trend continues, the ending balance in 2010 could yield very positive figures. The new consumer credit, meanwhile, recorded a slight rise from 0.37% in December.
